AI Debt Surges, Pushing Bond Issuance Past $2 Trillion This Year
Artificial intelligence-related borrowing is reaching 15% of total investment grade issuance in the United States this year, driving global bond markets.
An increase in artificial adoption has now been linked to significant shifts within global bond markets. According to Morgan Stanley forecasts and reports from Reuters 1, hyperscalers like Amazon and Alphabet are raising substantial sums through multicurrency bonds for their infrastructure expansion needs. Financial institutions have adapted by tapping into various currencies and extending maturities to keep up with demand without saturating dollar markets. As a result, it's expected that AI debt will nearly double globally next year, surpassing $570 billion according to Morgan Stanley’s projections reported on June 10th 2.
